UNDERSTATED elegance is what draws people to Athena Motel Apartments at 214 James St.
It only opened last week but bookings are already filling up.
Manager Jan Larkin said the motel was a game-changer for Toowoomba.
“Athena Motel Apartments is an apartment style motel; every room is self-contained,” she said.
“They all have a kitchen with a cook top, microwave, oven, two door fridge, a feature with table and chairs, sofa and also have a 50 inch TV.
“Rooms start as studio apartments to three bedroom, self-contained apartments with spas.”
The 33-unit motel features a heated pool, in-house restaurant, recreation room with a bar, billiards and darts, 24-hour gym, barbecue function room and conference facilities.
“It’s really something new that owner Marcus Goldie has put a lot of time and effort into thinking and designing the motel,” Ms Larkin said.
“Everyone is just astounded by the motel’s understated elegance. It has beautifully defined colour schemes which go perfectly. Everything just seems to fit really well and I think that’s down to Marc’s experience in motels; (he) really came up with a great concept.”
The motel is named after the Greek goddess Athena which is evident in its subtle interior decoration.
Ms Larkin said the motel provided a touch of self-contained luxury for any guest.
Athena Motel Apartments is also adjacent to the Toowoomba Hospital.
“We have a gate that opens directly into the grounds, so very convenient also for those who are staying in hospital or visiting,” she said.
“I think we’ve come in at a slightly different angle than the other motels in town and I think we’re setting the bar fairly high with the kind of standards we’re offering.”
Athena Motel Apartments also offers a free airport shuttle to and from Brisbane West Wellcamp airport.
